Roald Dahl Week
Upcoming Events

HISB community saw a fantastic celebration of Roald Dahl Week across the school. Students engaged with Dahl's work through reading and creative writing, culminating in a house fancy dress competition. The week also inspired creativity far beyond the English classroom. In Art, students created striking pieces built around memorable Roald Dahl quotes, bringing his distinctive voice and imagination to life visually. Meanwhile, our Theatre Club explored Dahl's work from a performance angle, experimenting with his themes and characters on stage. Alongside these creative celebrations, our Book Fair ran throughout the week in the atrium, featuring a dedicated Roald Dahl section alongside a wide range of other authors to help students discover their next great read.

This momentum tied in seamlessly with our broader reading initiatives across the school. It provided a natural backdrop for two of our ongoing programs: The Harrow Hundred, which encourages students to read 100 books during their time at Harrow, and Reading Passports, which give students space to reflect on their reading by tracking initial impressions, favourite characters, and key takeaways. Looking ahead, we are also excited to launch ReadTheory this year, a reading comprehension platform that will be integrated into weekly homework to sharpen comprehension skills and expose students to a wide range of texts.

It was a wonderful cross-curricular celebration of one of the world's most beloved storytellers, and we look forward to building on this reading momentum throughout the rest of the year.
